Organic Dried Yarrow, Achillea millefolium, Sustainable Farm Grown Medicine
We are a small-scale producer of culinary and medicinal herbs. All herbs are grown on our certified organic farm in British Columbia and are hand harvested, dried, and packaged on site in a dedicated approved facility. Our products are picked at their peak and dried in small batches to retain shape and flavour.
Our farm also uses regenerative farming practices, such as using animals (goats, sheep, pigs) to maintain and prepare new beds. This ensures that not only are we organic, but no heavy machinery ever touches the soil, and we maintain a healthy soil ecosystem.
Yarrow is an antihemorrhagic and got its name, achillea, from the Romans. They gave it this name as they said that Achilles required his soldiers to carry this herb at all times. Yarrow is high in salicylic acid and is an anti-inflammatory.
Yarrow is also said to help treat the common cold, flu, fevers, hypertension and painful menstruation and bleeding.
The herb is closely associated with divination. In China, yarrow stalks are used in consulting the I Ching (Book of Changes).
A great way to take yarrow in a herbal infusion to relieve cold and flu symptoms is to mix it with elderflowers, rose hips, peppermint and honey.
